New rules for transparency and honest advertising starting October 28

From October 28, 2025, Google Ads will roll out new rules to combat misleading pricing practices and increase transparency for users.
Advertisers must now clearly describe all payment models and costs — before and after purchase.

Among the banned practices:

  • Bait and switch: promoting a product at a low price to pressure users into buying a costlier or inferior one;
  • Price exploitation: charging unfairly high prices to people in urgent or vulnerable situations;
  • “Free” apps that actually require payment to install;
  • Free trials without clear mention of duration or automatic charges afterward.

The rollout begins October 28 and completes within four weeks.
Violations won’t cause immediate suspension: Google will first issue a 7-day warning, giving advertisers time to comply.

For small businesses, this is a chance to build trust and credibility.
Transparency isn’t just compliance — it’s good marketing.
